Biography
Barbara Cornet is a young French Polish organist.
In 2024, she was awarded the Schoonbroodt Prize from the Roi Baudoin Foundation. This biennal prize rewards a young and talented organist and contributes to developing careers.
She was the laureate of both Fondation Safran, and organ scholar of the Belgian organ maker Hippolyte Loret (1856) from Notre-Dame-du-Finistère church in Brussels for the year 2022- 2023. In 2018, she received the young musician prize, attributed by the French-German Circle Deutsch Französische Gesellschaft from Fribourg in Brisgau.
Barbara Cornet studied at the Conservatoire royal of Bruxelles besides Benoît Mernier, and in France where she received advice from Eric Lebrun, Jean-Baptiste Robin, Marie-Ange-Leurent and Pierre-Yves Fleury.
In 2024 she graduated with the highest distinction in the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles.
Barbara often performs during concerts, as a soloist or in ensembles: in Belgium, France and Poland. She played in the cathedrals of Chartres (Chartr’Estivales), Créteil, Besançon, at the Festival International d’Orgue d’Arbois, at the Festival Orgue en Ville, in Bruxelles (Lundi d’Orgue, Méditations d’orgue), in Leuven (Lunchconcert)…
Barbara is also involved in artistic creation and she is curious about other artistic fields such as theater, circus and literature. She accompanies the show Strano, last creation of Circus Trottola which is on tour in France and Europe. She also co-created two music shows alongside the stage director Clarisse Marchesin, mixing music and theater. Barbara is also the dedicatee of Un arbre, par-dessus le toit, berce sa palme, composed by Eric Lebrun and of L’étoile du Berger, an organ prelude by the composer Patrick Valls.

STRANO
Cirque Trottola – Festival Temps de Cirques
The center of the square is adorned with a large tent. A red circus tent. A storm rages outside, but inside, light shines. A man, perhaps a deserter, slips under the canvas into the circus tent in an attempt to escape the world, absurdity, and war. Here he finds a special atmosphere and timeless music that transports him to another, distant world belonging to memories… perhaps of the circus, perhaps of our childhood. Clowns, acrobats, aerialists on trapeze, lights, laughter, spectators, everything shines beautifully again, everything is illuminated once more. But soon, the reality of the outside world arrives and disrupts everything.
